GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The city of Greenfield is accepting nominations for the 2025 annual Human Rights Commission Award.
The award draws attention to the work an everyday Greenfield resident who has demonstrated longstanding commitment to fostering inclusivity, promoting a positive and respective community, and bringing people together, in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same.
Nominations are accepted online or on paper at City Hall until September 19th.

Greenfield Human Rights Commission Seeks 2025 Awardee Nominations
GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Human Rights Commission (HRC) is now accepting nominations for its 2025 Human Rights Commission Award. This annual honor recognizes a Greenfield resident who has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the values upheld by the Commission–fostering inclusivity, promoting a positive and respectful community, and bringing people together by celebrating both our commonalities and differences. The purpose of the award is to draw positive attention to the various work that everyday people are doing in our community to support human rights so that others may be inspired to do the same.
The award will be presented at a formal ceremony in December. Nominations can be submitted via this form: https://forms.gle/HWbarjopyPMCNKXk6, and will be accepted until 5:00 PM on September 19, 2025. Paper copies of this form are available on the bulletin board outside of the 2nd Floor Meeting Room in City Hall, and can be returned to the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, 14 Court Sq., Greenfield MA, 01301. City Hall is open 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

About the Greenfield Human Rights Commission
The Human Rights Commission is an official volunteer commission created by the City of Greenfield under Chapter 136 of Greenfield’s municipal code. It works to achieve the City’s policy of protecting and promoting the constitutional, civil, and human rights of all people within the City from any actions or incidents occurring within the City by:
• Promoting a positive sense of community and unity based on our similarities and differences.
• Providing a forum for the promotion of dialogue, education, healing, and celebration of our diversity.
Investigating, mediating, responding, and reporting to the community on allegations of human rights
violations.
• Providing resources, direction, and counsel.
