DEERFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) —Two brush fires were reported in Deerfield on Monday. The first call came in just after 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Avenue railroad crossing where crews encountered three fires believed to have been started by the trains passing through.
At approximately 4:17 p.m. a call came in of a fire on Upper Road. With crews finishing up at the previous scene, Greenfield Fire assisted Deerfield in knocking down the quickly growing fire that was started by an improperly discarded cigarette butt.
