GILL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A half-dozen members of Teamsters Local 597 picketed in front of the Gill facility of F.M. Kuzmeskus/Travel Kuz on Friday. The Brattleboro, Vermont school bus drivers are locked out after stalled contract negotiations with the bus company owners, Beacon Mobility.
Non-union replacement drivers were used in Brattleboro when schools opened on Wednesday, resulting in “the disorder, struggles and lack of preparedness on behalf of our transportation providers for the first day of school,” a message sent to parents by the school district read in part.
Talks are centered on improved wages and insurance coverage, with the two sides apparently not close to an agreement.
