Greenfield Redevelopment Authority Unveils First Set of Monthly Art Prints

GREENFIELD – If you have passed by the First National Bank building on Bank Row in the past few days you may have noticed two new pieces of art in the windows. The Greenfield Redevelopment Authority recently selected art to be printed and placed on the facade of the art deco building. Each month, two new prints from local artists will be on display to enliven Bank Row as pedestrians and drivers pass by the building each day.

On the left hand side you will find “The Lovers” by Jorie Morgan. The print is of an original piece done in inks and prints made from natural materials to create an image of two elephants. On the right hand side you will find “Raz in Woods” a print of an oil painting by Kate Spencer. “Raz in Woods” captures the artist’s perspective of the hiking trails in the area around Mount Toby in Sunderland. The two pieces will be on display for the entire month of December.

Artists for the project responded to a Call for Art released in September and were selected by members of the Greenfield Redevelopment Authority in October. Artists received a $50 stipend for the use of their art. More information on the Greenfield Redevelopment Authority and the First National Bank can be found at greenfield-ma.gov/gra.
