DESE recommends postponing votes on Gill-Montague, Pioneer merge

MONTAGUE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, DESE, has made a recommendation to the Six Town Regionalization Planning Board to postpone their upcoming town votes for the merging of the Gill-Montague and Pioneer Valley Regional School Districts.

The postponement came out of a lack of precedence for merging regional districts. The Planning Board will meet on Tuesday to vote on the postponement recommendation.

Town votes were expected to take place this November, at this time, it is unclear when the votes may happen.
