Residents Invited to Attend Parade, Pageant and Rally for No Kings III in Greenfield, MA
A coalition of community and student groups is inviting community members to join us on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from noon to 2 pm for a No Kings III parade, pageant and rally in Greenfield, part of a national day of actions to preserve democracy and direct resources away from the wealthiest 1% and back to our communities.
The parade will begin from Beacon Field just after noon, and will proceed along Beacon Street to Federal Street, then head south to the Common. Federal Street south of Beacon will be closed for the duration of the parade. In cooperation with the Greenfield Police, parade marshals and crossing guards will ensure safety for all participants.
The pageant will feature giant puppets and multiple choirs. It will begin at approximately 12:45 in front of City Hall. At 1 pm, a rally in support of an empowered citizenry and our immigrant neighbors will begin in front of City Hall. Speakers include Bill Newman, ACLU Western Mass Office Director; Ben Clark of Clarkdale Orchards; Reverend Kate Stevens, representing the faith community; Maria Goldman, Indivisible Montague and Montague Selectboard member; Nate Woodard, Greenfield High School organizer and Greenfield Human Rights Commissioner; and Alaina Shearer, Mohawk High School walk-out organizer. MCs will be Mohawk student organizer Lexi Gilbert and actor/activist Court Dorsey. Ben Grosscup, the Ladies of Liberty, the West County Resistance Choir, the Song Squad, and the Good Time Street Choir will provide music. The Montague Marching Band and Brattleboro’s People’s Resistance Band will march and play in the parade. The Prone to Mischief Brass Band will be stationary near the Federal Street School.
The coalition of sponsoring organizations include Indivisible Montague, Gill Indivisible, the Pioneer Valley Affinity Group Network, the Interfaith Council, the Nonviolence Trainers Group, Veterans for Peace, Traprock Peace Center, Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution (FCCPR), and student organizers from Mohawk High School, Frontier High School, Greenfield High School and the Four Rivers Public Charter School, many of whom will have tables at an Action Fair on the sidewalk beside City Hall.
We invite all residents to join or watch the parade, and come to the Common to see the giant puppet pageant and hear the speakers and musicians. In other words, all are invited to celebrate democracy and say, “No kings in America!”
