African dance and drumming brings people together in joy! In this class series, we will practice the basics of West African dance and drumming, while having fun and playing together as a group. We will strengthen our sense of rhythm, creativity and confidence with regular movement and drumming games. Kids get to release their energy with dance, and learn several traditional West African dances. We will also practice several traditional rhythms on the djembe and dunun drums of West Africa, and play together as an ensemble. Above all, the class will emphasize self-expression, group support and the joy of movement and music.

We strive to ensure accessibility of our programs to all members of the community.Classes are offered on a sliding scale $12-57. To explore additional financial support options, contact us at music@pvso.org or (413) 773-3664.
