The annual Cool Rides Car Show motors into Franklin County Technical School on Saturday, October 4 from 9 am-1 pm.

This is the 13th year FCTS has put on this popular family-friendly event, with a two-year hiatus because of the coronavirus. This is a free event but donations are appreciated.

Franklin County Technical School is located at 82 Industrial Boulevard, Turners Falls.

The car show is open to all vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

The FCTS Culinary Arts program will provide traditional food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks, as well as their own homemade selections.

FCTS will present Top 25 Favorite Rides plaques made by students in the school’s Advanced Manufacturing program and one People’s Choice Trophy for best in show, sculpted by the students in the Welding program.

The school’s Pre-Employment Program will be selling a few items from the school store, as well as handmade tote bags. The proceeds from the sale of the tote bags will go to the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter. The effort is a collaboration between PEP, members of our school community and others.

Feed bags used to make the totes were collected from many people, including retired educator Michelle Hillman and current music teacher Lynette Snedeker of Frizzell Hill Farm. Much of the liner fabric was donated by Sherry Sheldon and her daughter, FCTS grad Corey Knapp.

The tote bags were cut to size and the pockets and straps cut by PEP students. The bags were sewn by FCTS Career & College Awareness teacher Christa Snyder.

This year’s Cool Rides Car Show is sponsored by Nova Motorcycles.

Franklin County Technical School is a tobacco-free campus and no pets are allowed. Sandri Energy is the major sponsor of the Cool Rides Car Show. For more information check out www.fcts.us, email jnoel@fcts.us or call 413-863-9561, ext. 129.
