The English Barn – Jack Sobon, English Barn Expert, Architect/Timber Frame Specialist –
Jack Sobon will present a talk and slide show with a special emphasis on the English Barn at the Wilder Homestead in Buckland. We will learn of the layout, proportion, use of the English Barn, and look at the intricacies of its 18th century carpentry and construction. Wood species, tools, layout techniques, and erection methods will be included. Period tools and artifacts will be displayed. We will learn of fascinating insights into these rare structures that enrich the local landscape.
The Program is followed by a Pie Social at which time the audience can visit inside the Hall or walk out on the grounds if weather permits.
