Comedienne Joan Rivers is in stable condition at a New York hospital after losing her breath during a routine surgery early on Thursday.

Rivers was admitted to Mount Sinai hospital after she stopped breathing at nearby Yorkville Endoscopy.

Initial reports suggested the TV personality was in critical condition, but that appears to have been downgraded, according to Access Hollywood.

Ironically, she joked about her health during a stand-up show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Wednesday night, telling fans, “I’m 81, I could go at any moment… I could fall over right here and you all could say, ‘I was there!'”
