at Northfield Mountain and Recreation Center
Rt 63

On Saturday, January 31st, from 3:30 until 6:00 p.m. join Northfield Mountain Recreation and Environmental Center staff for a Winter Family Sunset-Moonrise Hike/Snowshoe. Families may find tracks of porcupines, snowshoe hare, and coyote as we explore wooded wetlands, rocky outcrops and frozen streams. Participants will build a small fire, boil water for cocoa, build snow creatures, balance on logs, play games, and any other winter fun we can imagine! If snow has not yet fallen, we’ll have fun hiking. Practical woods skills like bushwhacking, estimating sunset time, and leave-no-trace fire building will be shared. Dress in warm layers that can be shed as we get moving, and bring a water bottle to take on the trail. Cocoa and granola bar snacks will be provided. Directions to meeting place will be shared with registered participants. For ages 6 and older. The event is free, $25 per family with snowshoe rentals. Please call to pre-register at 1-800-859-2960.
