NEW CONCERT SERIES AT MT. TOBY

Saturday, September 19th 2015 - 7:30 pm at Mt. Toby Meeting House
Rt 63
Leverett

The Peace & Social Concerns Committee of Mt. Toby Meeting will present concerts monthly at the meeting house, 194 Long Plain Rd. (Rte. 63) in Leverett, MA, starting in September.  These concerts will present singer-songwriters of music for social change, in service of the Committee’s mission of working for social, economic and environmental justice. Music has the distinct power of reaching people on a visceral level. Music for social change has the double advantage of addressing social justice issues on both the intellectual and emotional planes. It can stimulate, encourage, rally, console and educate, whether the topic of a song be about the past or present. Most encouraging are songs of hope for a peaceful future. The Peace & Social Concerns Committee endeavors to achieve just that through this series. Our first concert will host Charlie King on Saturday, September 19, 7:30 pm. Charlie is a musical storyteller and political satirist. He has been at the heart of American folk music for half a century. He sings and writes passionately about the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. Suggested donation is $10 to $20. For more information about our first concert and the schedule of future concerts, go to: https://mttobyconcerts.wordpress.com/ or contact Diane Crowe at mounttobyconcerts@justiceandpeace.net
